What has changed?

So we woke up this morning with a new president in America, and everything has changed.

Oh. Wait. No it hasn't.

First of all, the new president won't even take office until January, 2017. We still have the Holiday season to celebrate/survive before that official change takes place.

And second - well, let's see.

I still had to talk myself into getting out of bed this morning.
I still have to eat and drink and stretch and dress.
I still have to drive into work.
I still have to communicate with clients and coworkers and friends and family (Or not, as we choose.)
I still have to use the bathroom and put gas in the car and sit down and stand up and turn around. And NOT play dead.
I still have to choose, every minute, which direction to take, which response to make, which truth to embody.
I still have to trust in myself and in the Glorious Omnipotent Divine.
I still have to be.

So what has changed this morning?

Nothing.

I am the center of my Universe, and my universe is still rolling right along.

So I will too.

I hope you have a warm and Universally Divine day!

The Day After

And now it's the day after.

The event is over.
The planning and preparation have come to fruition.
It happened, or it didn't, with all its glory and confusion, sorrow and celebration.
And now it's the day after.

The waiting is finished.
The decisions are done.
The whirlwind of wondering has died.
The chosen outfit worked, or it didn't, and beauty and horror and uncomfortable glamour was felt.
And now it's the day after.

The words that were said.
The tears that were cried.
The thoughts that still hang as an echo.
Were they real?  Was it right?  Was it necessary and true?  It was so important then.
And now it's the day after.

It felt so immediate.
It seemed so powerful.
It loomed so large and important.
It was the dream.
It was the fear.
It was the goal.
It was the end.

And now it's the day after.

Ruminate, rinse & repeat

Sometimes, as I begin to expound upon some important topic, I feel an over-whelming sense of familiarity. Have I already given my personal chapter & verse on this issue?  Haven't I already poured out my heart?

Anyone who has tried to change a habit can tell you, it takes more than 1 day, more than 1 try, to make a difference in a life. And what is any moment of life but an attempt, a practice, of new habits? Whether we're changing patterns or perceptions or preferential attitudes, it's the repetition & the practice which perfects it.

Just like a habit desirous of change, a thought process is a repetitious thing.  Whether you're establishing your faith or learning a dance step, you find yourself thinking the same thought, or contemplating the same issue, again and again until you're quite clear in your mind.  It's not a sudden process -- although one day you'll suddenly realize you no longer have the issue --  it's a practice.

And so, when I think I am repeating a thought process, or a protest, or a declaration of faith or perspective, I go ahead and write it out anyway.  Because practice, repetition, refinement, is the way to know what really works for me.  The way to know what I really think.  To way to scrape off the top layer of thought and dig down to the next level of the issue.

Ruminate, rinse, and repeat.

I hope you have a great day!

Life in Runes - February

Believe it, gentle beings; the rune for February is Sowelo - Success.  While this Success is watery with tears (frustration, endurance, relief, gratitude), Sowelo is really about the fire. The Fire of belief. The Fire of determination. The Fire of sheer will-power. And then, the combustive Fire of change, as 1 small success starts the Success-ive chain. A Success-ion of Successes.

Welcome to the Success-ation.
